On October 24th we co-hosted a Central Jersey Latino Civic Engagement Forum with Trenton Activist Carlos Avila to discuss the important issues facing the latino community in Trenton and the surrounding Mercer County region.  The event was a Latino Leaders’ Congressional Round Table with Congressman Rush Holt and included former Trenton Mayor Doug Palmer; President of the Latino Leadership Alliance Martin Perez; The Citizens Campaign State Campaign Director Lauren Skowronski; and Doug Massey from Princeton University.

The speakers discussed the current Latino involvement in Trenton and Mercer County politics, and the importance of  the Latino community in Trenton's economy and poltiics.  We shared with the group the different paths to power Trenton's latino community can take, including the political parties and appointed boards and commissions.
