Trenton community groups will kick-off a four-part series of leadership forums tomorrow night to empower city residents to affect positive change in their communities.

The first leadership forum of the “Bring Your Voice to the Table” series will be this Wednesday, July 17th at 6:30pm at the Lighthouse Outreach Ministries at 715 Bellevue Avenue. Read the news coverage about the event.

The "Bring Your Voice to the Table” series will give residents the tools and training to get results in the community, including how to be a more effective advocate in City Hall.

This series is hosted by the West Ward Alliance, as an opportunity to address the needs identified last fall in a community survey.  Other community co-sponsors include Lighthouse Ministries, Trenton NAACP, West Ward Neighborhood Group, Grace Community Church, Mercer Street Friends, and The Citizens Campaign.

The forums will be held every Wednesday from July 17th through August 7th at Lighthouse Outreach Ministries, each one focusing on another avenue for Trenton residents to have their voices heard. Each and every Trenton resident is invited to come and participate.

Upcoming events will focus on:

July 24th  – Citizen Journalist Training: How to keep your neighbors and fellow residents informed on important city news and events by becoming a “citizen journalist”.

July 31st – Appointed Official: Make a direct impact on the decisions being made in the City through the various boards and commissions.

August 7th Political Party Leader: How to take power within the political parties to get your community better served
