Forum Arms Citizens to Cut Costs

The first words out of everyone's mouth was, "Wow, that was a lot of information!"

If you attended The Citizens Campaign's Central Jersey forum on government cost-cutting you may have felt overwhelmed.  You would probably be saying the same thing, "Wow". We had a packed house, who heard from some of  the state's top experts on how our municipalities, school boards, and county governments are combatting the coming fiscal crisis and what citizens can do in their hometown.

Our message to the folks who attended and to those who couldn't make it -- don't be overwhelmed -- this is where The Citizens Campaign comes in. We want to help you take the next step -- to identify issues in your community and create an achievable action plan.  Sign up now for our follow-up webinar on Tuesday, December 4th at 12:30pm.  Mark Magyar, founder of the Independent Center, will help you begin analyzing your town's spending and compare it to other towns of comparable size to identify potential waste & savings. Freeholder Jim Polos will help you strategize on bringing these best practices to your town, county, or school district.

The event was designed to highlight the mounting costs and obligations our communities are facing, and to identify the smart solutions towns are using. While we provided attendees with the knowledge and tools to take what they learned about cutting waste and improving efficiency, it all comes down to what will you do?  If you where there, what will you do to help your town save money, jobs, and services?  If you missed it, don't worry, it will be made available in video in a week or two. Whether you came or not we're here to help: email us at to tell us what you are interested in doing in your home town.
