Thank you to everyone who came out last night to the Celebration of Citizen Leadership Gala! It was a resounding success - breaking fundraising goals and scoring record attendance. It's this outpouring of support that motivates both staff and volunteers to continue the important work of rebuilding of democracy. It feels good to be loved by so many! Thank you!
For those that couldn't join us -- the night kicked off with recognition of the gala's special honorees, Newark Alliance CEO Alfred Koeppe and Prudential Foundation Chair Sharon Taylor. These two leaders are truly remarkable and remind us how important it is to give back and help our communities and state.
In addition to honoring Sharon and Alfred, we presented this years Citizen Leadership Awards to a few outstanding citizen leaders.
Dan DeNose was presented an award for Outstanding Citizen Legislator, for his efforts to reform Newark’s insurance contracting process. Bader Risheg received an award for his dedication and leadership to North Bergen as a Political Party leader. Ann Marie Miller, Executive Director of ArtPride New Jersey, was honored for her work to educate and empower the arts community in leadership and public service. And ElizabethInsideOut.TV Founder and Editor, Sylvia Jáuregui, was celebrated for her achievements as a citizen journalist in the City of Elizabeth.
Special thank you to Governor Brendan Byrne and his wife Ruthi, and Steven and Elaine Pozycki for serving as co-chairs of the gala.
